“Skyrim” is the fifth entry in the “Elder Scrolls” video game franchise, as well as its most successful iteration. This fantasy games takes place within the northern country of Skyrim. Your character is the “dovahkin,” or “Dragonborn,” an individual born with the soul of a dragon and gifted with a natural talent for the magical tongue of dragons.
You can choose to play as one of several races, including the reptilian Argonians and feline Khajiit. Adventure however you want; join the Thieves’ Guild of Riften, the combat-heavy Companions of Whiterun, the Mages’ College of Winterhold, or even the secretive Dark Brotherhood of contract killers. All of these factions have their own questlines in addition to the main storyline which sees the mythical dragons coming back from the dead. Your ultimate goal as the dovahkin will be to find a way to stop their revival; absorbing dragon souls along the way to enhance your dragon “shout” powers like fire breath.
Due to the sheer number of quests, opportunities for exploration, add-ons like “Hearthfire” and “Dawnguard,” and the sheer array of mods it can incorporate; Skyrim is regarded by many pros and fans as the only role-playing game you will ever need.
